This expanding company put forth the need to change their working environment and establish an egalitarian culture. Creating a safe space for their employees where they belong and matter, where culture and values are promoted, where diversity and uniqueness meet, where sustainability and the environment lead, and where the community and natural surroundings are embraced.
This 4-story 120,000 SF tenant improvement with 30,000 SF of exterior modifications project in Redwood City promoted these goals by eliminating private offices and establishing a free address module where employees are free to sit where they choose and expanded their amenity options. This employee-centric environment is achieved through many design features throughout the space. A new communicating open stair allows for cross-collaboration between floors. Multiple lounge areas on each floor help set the tone for new interactions and meetings. The first floor features a full-service kitchen, servery and café. A fitness center was added to promote wellness as well as an open EBC and training facility promoting their business. To further connect to the site, and provide additional amenities, a café deck and new floating dock were added.
The building entry was modified with the addition of a photovoltaic canopy at the lobby for the powering of electric vehicles. This supports one of the company’s many business values. The project envelopes the ideals and beliefs and enhances the workplace and the employee experience.
