Senior Project Architect
AP+I Design is looking for a Senior Project Architect to play a pivotal role in our Mountain View studio.

About You
The ideal candidate for this position is a highly experienced, licensed architect with a strong background in commercial interiors, technical documentation, code compliance, consultant coordination, permitting, and construction administration. This person is confident leading drawing sets, guiding junior team members, coordinating with consultants and jurisdictions, and supporting the Project Manager in keeping projects aligned with scope, schedule, budget, and design intent.

What Our Expectations Look Like…
Lead the development and coordination of construction documentation for projects of varying size and complexity
Contribute and advise to achieving the architectural design vision through technical expertise, code knowledge, constructability input, and detailing
Provide strong knowledge of code compliance, including ADA, egress, fire ratings, construction types, and applicable California building codes
Coordinate with consultants, general contractors, vendors, and jurisdictions throughout design, documentation, permitting, and construction administration
Lead or support the construction administration process, including RFIs, submittals, site observations, and coordination with the project team
Act as a technical resource for project-related requirements, documentation standards, construction detailing, and quality control
Organize, manage, and oversee drawing sets, Revit files, backgrounds, issued documents, specifications, and project archives
Delegate tasks to job captains, designers, and junior team members while providing guidance, feedback, and mentorship
Communicate progress, schedule concerns, technical issues, and coordination needs clearly with the Project Manager and internal team
Attend internal and external meetings and serve as a reliable backup to the Project Manager when needed
Maintain strong relationships with consultants, contractors, city officials, and clients through responsive and thoughtful communication
Support AP+I’s commitment to high-quality architectural design, technical rigor, and collaborative project delivery
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 10+ years of full-time professional experience in architecture or interior architecture
Architectural license required
Degree in architecture, interior architecture, or recognized equivalent
Strong experience in commercial interiors, workplace, tenant improvement, repositioning, or related project types
Excellent knowledge of California building codes, accessibility requirements, permitting processes, and construction detailing
Proven ability to independently lead construction documentation and coordinate consultant teams
Strong experience with construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, field observations, and coordination with GCs
Proficiency in Revit required
Proficiency in Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
Local Bay Area experience is highly desirable
Strong communication, organization, mentorship, and problem-solving skills
How to Apply:
This is a full-time position with a complete benefits package. Salary is up $170,000, contingent on relevant experience.
