Senior Designer
AP+I Design is looking for a Senior Designer to play a pivotal role in our Mountain View studio.

About You
The ideal candidate is a confident design leader with a strong background in commercial interiors and workplace design. This person can guide a project from programming and concept development through design documentation and construction administration, while maintaining design integrity, mentoring team members, and building trusted relationships with clients.

What Our Expectations Look Like…
Lead and develop design solutions from programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, and construction documentation
Interpret client goals, workplace needs, brand objectives, and business drivers into thoughtful, tailored design solutions
Maintain design integrity across all phases of the project while integrating architecture, interiors, furniture, finishes, lighting, technology, environmental graphics, and consultant input
Demonstrate strong knowledge of current design strategies, workplace trends, materials, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and technology approaches
Develop, review, and guide test fits, space plans, finish concepts, furniture strategies, design presentations, and technical design documentation
Communicate design ideas clearly through diagrams, sketches, renderings, presentations, finish palettes, and verbal storytelling
Present design concepts and recommendations to clients with confidence, clarity, and a strong point of view
Work closely with the Project Manager to align design direction with project scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations
Collaborate with design directors and principals to advance and support broader office, regional and market initiatives.
Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors, fabricators, product representatives, and furniture dealers to support a fully integrated design solution
Review finish schedules, plans, elevations, details, and documentation for completeness and alignment with design intent
Support the team during construction administration to ensure follow-through of design intent
Mentor junior designers and contribute to a studio culture that values design excellence, curiosity, collaboration, and continued learning
Maintain strong relationships with clients, industry partners, product representatives, and consultants
Stay active in the design community through industry events, networking, research, and trend exploration
Play a key role in the growth and success of the firm by advancing design culture, elevating firm recognition, and serving as an influential voice within the market to help shape the future direction and impact of the practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 10+ years of full-time professional experience in interior design, interior architecture, or architecture
4+ year degree in interior design, architecture, interior architecture, or recognized equivalent
NCIDQ, NCARB, AIA, CCIDC, LEED AP, or similar certification preferred
Understanding of sustainable and inclusive design practices, with LEED certification considered a plus.
Strong experience in workplace, commercial interiors, tenant improvement, repositioning, amenity, or related project types
Advanced knowledge of design strategy, space planning, furniture, finishes, materials, workplace trends, and construction processes
Strong understanding of code implications related to space planning, accessibility, egress, fire ratings, furniture, and finish selections
Ability to lead client presentations, design workshops, internal charrettes, and project design reviews
Proficiency in Revit, Enscape or similar rendering software, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
Strong visual, verbal, and written communication skills
Experience mentoring designers and leading collaborative project teams
How to Apply:
This is a full-time position with a complete benefits package. Salary range $130,000 to $150,000, contingent on relevant experience.
