Second Bloom: A Story of Renewal
Chairity
2025
Each year, Chairity challenges local design firms to transform discarded objects into works of art that give back. This year, AP+I Design partnered with BCCI to create Second Bloom—a sculptural pendant light reborn from a once-worn wedding dress.
What began as a single-use garment, requiring over 15,000 gallons of water to produce, was deconstructed and reimagined into layered, petal-like forms that evoke motion, texture, and renewal. The color palette, inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s Wheat Field with Cypresses, brings depth and vibrancy to the piece—symbolizing sustainability, creativity, and new life.
Our team’s collective efforts helped raise $7,250, earning the “Most Money Raised as a Team” recognition, and Second Bloom sold for $150. Beyond the accolades, the event supported three incredible organizations—Project Color Corps, Industrial Design Outreach, and Latino Task Force—whose work uplifts local communities.
