THE CHALLENGE
To renovate an existing
“corporate-style” three-building campus, to suit the needs of a dynamic and growing technology company. Google wanted the “typical” standards for high-tech interior architecture and furniture systems to be evaluated and challenged through every step of the design process. They also desired the reuse of existing construction and repurposed materials to promote sustainable design and to achieve LEED certification.

THE SOLUTION
Selected demolition of private offices opened up the floor plates to allow light and views to penetrate deep into the core of the building, while maximizing the use of existing infrastructure. Centralized congregation/meeting areas were designed throughout the buildings to give each floor a central point of collaboration. Themed floors were developed based on local geography - “Northern California,” “Urban,” and “Water” - to acknowledge the environment and local activities. The result - an environment that is both fun and efficient, achieved through creative, simple and cost effective design.
